Connecting and integrating renewable energy to the grid

Historically, we’ve relied on cheap, coal fired electricity generation to keep the lights on. Now we’re entering a new era where we’ve come to agree across communities and government, this is no longer a sustainable solution. The growing use of renewable energy sources is the cornerstone of the energy transition.
What will our electricity system look like in future, and when will this change occur? What are some of the challenges faced by renewable energy generators and operators, and what is Yurika’s role in the energy transition?
The future electricity grid
The closure of coal-fired generators means the grid of the future will look quite different, drawing on renewable energy and storage to ensure our communities continue to enjoy reliable, affordable electricity. Under the latest plans from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), all of Australia’s coal stations are set to close by 2038.
The Australian Government has set a target of 82% of energy to be generated from renewable sources by 2030.
Connecting renewables to the grid
At Yurika, we’re at the forefront of this energy transition. With our longstanding history in electrical networks, we’re experts in generated performance studies and electrical balance of plant (EBoP), making us an ideal partner to support grid connection of your next solar or wind farm, or battery energy storage project. We offer end to end Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services.
EBoP is the intricate process of connecting and integrating these systems into the existing energy network and portfolio. It encompasses crucial components such as substations, reticulation, and control schemes.
Getting this part right is critical to your project, as it ensures your infrastructure and systems will deliver efficient transmission, distribution and control of wind and solar generated electricity.
We’ve connected enough renewable energy to power over 12 million homes
Getting your renewable assets approved and connected to the grid can be complex. We’ve worked on some of the biggest wind farm, solar farm, and battery energy storage projects in Australia. Collectively, we’ve connected more than 7GW* of energy into the National Electricity Market. That’s enough to power close to 12,500,000 homes.
