MYTILINEOS S.A. is a multinational industrial giant active in metallurgy, power & gas, and sustainable engineering solutions. They take on complex and demanding projects across the whole solar energy spectrum and ranks amongst the top 10 engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors globally.

Objective

The Renewables & Storage Development business unit of MYTILINEOS looked to Yurika to leverage our strong relationships with international suppliers to see the crucial, on-time delivery of a major plant without delay impacts related to Covid-19.

They came to Yurika with a challenge to design, construct, EPC, test and commission a substation, including:

  • 1 x 70MVA power transformer
  • 1 x 10MVAr Harmonic Filter
  • 10 x 22kV switchgear panels
  • Protection, metering, SCADA and auxiliary systems
  • Construction of approx. 1.5km of 66kV overhead line, interfacing with a new 66kV bay at Wagga Wagga TransGrid Substation
  • Testing & commissioning of the Wagga North Solar Farm Substation and proving pathway and interface with TransGrid’s substation
  • Liaison with connected parties to ensure comprehensive testing carried with multiple stakeholders

Solution

Yurika’s design team engaged with industry professionals for the supply of HV/MV equipment, liaising on behalf of MYTILINEOS with Network Service Providers (NSP) to ensure a seamless handover.

Outcomes

The successes of the project were:

  • 1.5km of 22kV overhead transmission line, built for NSP
  • Delivered within timeframe and budget
  • Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate of 0% (TRIFR)
  • Partnered with MYTILNINEOS to deliver further renewable projects
